Newsletter August 31-September 4

August 31st, 2009

Wow! I can’t believe the summer is over already. What a great ending to a great summer. The kids really enjoyed Hawaiian week. We made lei’s and grass skirts, played Hawaiian music and danced at our end of the summer lua. With the ending of summer we had to say goodbye to our friends Sophie, Zachary and Hugo. I hope all of you enjoy your new schools and come back and visit us soon!!

With the fall session begining we have some additions to our classroom. Riyah has moved up from the toddler room to join the preschoolers. Marlee and Donnie will be joining us in the next couple of months as well. Geordan starts this week in the preschool room as well as Elam and Samantha in the Infant/toddler room.

Our Fall schedule will start this Monday which includes our math and writing program for kids 3-5. I will send home theme sheets and a fall letter with your child this week. It will also have field trip dates so please try to join us on a trip if you can! It will be an experience:)

This week we will discuss colors, shapes and numbers. Have a good one!

Newsletter August 10

Regretfully, I must inform you that this will be Ms. Sara’s last week at Busy B’s. She has decided to take an evening position at a 24 hour child-care facility. The kids and I have grown to love Ms. Sara during her time here and will really miss her. Good luck! With that in mind, I would like to introduce her replacement, Michele Rumer. Michele graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville in 2006. She has years of experience with nannying and babysitting. She is very energetic and easy to talk with so I do anticipate a smooth transition. Also, I have hired a part-time assistant for the preschool classroom named Kristian McKoy. Yeah! We are growing and it will be nice to have help on a more regular basis. Nicole Mazanec will also remain on staff as a part-time assistant for the preschoolers. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to talk to me at anytime. Thanks.

We would also like to welcome a few new kids that your children may start talking about soon. Our new friends are Jacob(2), Caden(2), Maesa(3), and Zachary(5). Zachary is starting Kindergarten in three weeks but will be here until then. We are happy to have you all.

With all the new children it would be difficult for us to go on our last field trip. Instead, I am hoping to schedule someone to come to us but am still considering several possibilities. I will let you know what I come up with!

Grants Farm trip

August 5th, 2009

Today we took a trip to Grants Farm. The kids were very excited. Once we got there we took the tram ride. (This was Atom’s favorite part) The animals were out and about and came fairly close to the tram. There are pictures posted of the animals we saw. When the tram stopped we headed straight for the goats. They were hungrily  waiting for us. Some of us were very brave and didn’t mind the attacking goats. Others were not so sure. We all enjoyed the goats from the outside of the fence. Colin enjoyed them so much he couldn’t stop giggling. From there we explored the peacocks, kangaroos, tortoises, birds, elephants and horses. We did get to walk through some water misters to cool off on this hot day. This seemed to be the favorite part of most of the kids!!!! Thanks for packing lunches because the kids always enjoy having a picnic lunch. Before we left we visited the Clydesdale stables where we had many questions about the nursing colt:) Then we returned home very hot and tired. Thanks to Sophie’s mommy for joining us on the trip. Please take a moment to view the pictures from the day!

JULY NEWSLETTER

July 12th, 2009

In honor of the baseball all star game we are playing a family wiffle ball game on Wednesday during pick-up time. I invite you to take a few extra minutes to bat or field with your child and friends when you come to pick-up.  The kids really love when parents get involved in their games:)  We will be discussing sports this week and practicing a few of them as well. They should be tired by Friday!!!!!

Last weeks field trip was to Powder Valley Nature Reserve. If you have not been there for a visit I would recommend it. You can take a hike through the wooded area and hopefully catch a glimpse of deer like we did. They also have a nature building where you can learn about animals that are native to Missouri.

The previous field trip to the Museum of Transportation was hot. Thankfully we spent an hour in Creation Station where we could build train tracks, dress like pirates, make an ice cream truck and have all sorts of fun. Another great place to visit.

Katie’s Dad is Russ Anderson who is a local singer/songwriter. He was able to join us and sing with us. He also played the guitar and harmonica. The kids really enjoyed singing and dancing. He plays around town so if you are interested check out his website at www.russanderson.cc He will join us again on Tuesday July 29th at 9:30. Everyone is welcome.

I will post pictures of these events for you to enjoy.

I am putting together a school buzz book as requested by a few parents. If for any reason you do not want to be listed on the sheet please let me know in the next few days. I hope to have it done this week.

Just a quick reminder: If your child is not going to be at school for the day please try to let us know.  Thanks so much and have a good week!

Happy Father’s Day

June Newsletter

June 18th, 2009

Reminders… Donuts with Dad is tomorrow. If you have some time for a bite at school please join us so we can tell you how much we like you:)  Also, Next field trip is Thursday June 25th at Museum of Transportation. Don’t forget even in the summer months it is best to wear tennis shoes. The pebbles get trapped in sandals and the kids end up spending more time dumping out shoes than playing. Lastly, We are closed Friday, July 3rd for the Holiday.

This months themes are Summer Fun, Circus and Transportation. I have posted pictures so you can see how it is going. The heat has really hit us this week and we are cutting down on outside time when it is super hot. While we are outside we are stopping to take frequent water breaks. Please make sure your child has a water bottle available at school. Thanks! Stay cool!
